What can you do with after Bachelor’s in Fashion Designing?

 Introduction:

B.Sc. Fashion is an undergraduate Fashion Designing course. It covers the study of creating original designs in garments, jewelry, footwear, luggage, and a study of the ever-changing fashion trends in the industry and market. In other words, B.Sc. Fashion Design is the study of creating unique designs which involve transforming artistic creativity and talent in creating products like clothing, jewelry, textiles, footwear, and other accessories. B.Sc. Fashion Design degree is also considered as one of the best fashion designing courses in Navi Mumbai.

But the question is what after this? Often students are in a dilemma of what to do next after fashion degree courses and how to make the most of their degree.

Careers in the fashion design industry are diverse. You could be working within a team creating a high street/designer fashion line; as a pattern designer within a textiles company; or as a designer/assistant within a large or small fashion house. Careers in fashion design are likely to be most satisfying for graduates from bachelor of fashion design colleges who are highly creative, love to draw and make things, and are inspired by fashion.

Here are some of the careers that you can pursue with a fashion design degree:

Fashion Merchandising

Fashion merchandising and fashion buying are careers that are dependent on being aware of upcoming fashion trends before they hit the street. While this may sound as simple as flicking through a copy of Vogue’s November issue, there is much more to these roles!

If you pursue a career in fashion buying, your central job will be to source and purchase trendy products that will appeal to your clients and consumers. Fashion merchandising, is slightly more business-orientated, with your main tasks being to calculate how much a customer can spend and to make sure that all the right products are found in the right place.

Fashion Marketing and PR

Fashion trends come and go quicker than you think, meaning fashion marketing and public relations (PR) departments are constantly working to spread the word about the latest trends and styles. Taught as a separate specialization at many fashion designing institutes in Mumbai, fashion marketing involves creating advertising strategies campaigns to sell your company’s products to clients (including shops) and individual consumers.

Fashion Production and Management

Fashion production is often considered as the “front line” of the fashion industry, and much attention is needed to ensure quality and consistency in the overall product. After gaining some experience in the field, you will get various management career possibilities, allowing you to work your way up the production ladder until you have your team.

Advertising

Linked to the field of fashion marketing, the advertising industry can also provide a range of careers opportunities for graduates from fashion designing institutes in Mumbai. Whether you’re advertising, luxury fashion, high street fashion, or related products, candidates can use the skills acquired during their fashion degree to better ‘sell’ the latest fashion trends to their clients.

The fashion designing industry is fast-paced and competitive, so you have to make sure to take advantage of all the opportunities you can during your degree, including retail experience, fashion internships, and networking opportunities, to boost your graduate employability.
